2009/2010 School Year
MS. D. Scott
Dear Parents and Guardian:
As your son’s or daughter’s science teacher, I want to welcome you to an
exciting year of learning and achievement in science. I am delighted to be
teaching your child this year. I would like to take this opportunity to tell
you a little about myself and my goals for your child.
One of my goals, It is that my classroom becomes a community of learners.
Another, goal is to create a classroom environment where each student has
opportunities to experience success and is encouraged to work to his/her
fullest potential. I believe that each student in my class has a valuable
contribution to make to our science learning environment . This year our
class will be involved in many cooperative learning projects where your
child will learn both academic and social skills by working constructively
with peers. We will be exploring the themes of general science.
In addition, students will be involved in independent scientific research.
Our science department believes that all students should have the
opportunity to investigate a problem of their choice. With assistance from
several sources, each student will select a topic and conduct an experiment
to study some aspect of that topic. Most students will need to do some of
their work at home. Some will actually conduct their experiments at home and
all will need to do some work in libraries to research their topic. A
schedule of events and timeline for completing various parts of the
experimental project will be given at a later date.
I look forward to working with you to make this an exciting and productive
year for your child. I hope you will be able to visit us soon and join our
learning community.
Listed below are supplies needed for science.
